A Satisfying Pair: Fine Wine & Savory Cuisine

The Blennerhassett Hotel is excited for another year of our specialty dinners to begin! Each month pairs wine, beer or spirits with a meal to match.

We will kick off our 2018 schedule
with a Wine & Dine this Thursday, January 11, featuring Italian wines from the Kysela portfolio. We will serve five flavorful wines and four courses of fine cuisine. Paired together for a deliciously satisfying and enjoyable evening.

Don’t be intimidated, this is anything but a snobby wine dinner! It is a fun, casual atmosphere that features delicious wine and food.

This is an opportunity to taste and learn, as well. Holly Yeager presents and shares information on each wine you try throughout the night.

The evening will start with an aperitif, featuring Rinaldi Joyful NV. This sparkling wine has a straw yellow color and fruity whit. You will taste hints of apple and mint as you sip.

After your taste buds are warmed up, we will pour a 2016 Giorgio Z Friulano. Floral and fruity, this velvety wine has a note of grilled almonds. As you sip and savor the floral flavors, we will serve the first course. Executive Chef Argoso has prepared fried shrimp risotto balls with romesco sauce and lemon oil.

Once you’ve finished the first course, we will serve a 2015 Otella Lugana “Le Creete.” Golden and warm, this white wine features exotic notes and leaves a mineral impression. To go with this wine, we will bring out the second course. This will consist of Prosciutto wrapped melon with arugula, cherry tomatoes and peach/white balsamic reduction.

Next, we will bring out a 2009 Accordini Valpolicella Ripasso to pair with the entrée course. This full-bodied wine has an intense red color with garnet hints. The almond and fresh walnut aromas are a perfect match to the entrée. For the main course, Chef has prepared a walnut crusted pork tenderloin with pork demi-glace, classic mashed potatoes and roasted carrots. The walnut crust will pair perfectly with the nutty aroma of the Valpolicella Ripasso.

The final course of the evening will feature a 2012 Brunello di Montalcino. This Poggio Nardone has scents of spices combined with a fruity aroma of small red ripe fruits, blackberry and blueberry. Our culinary team has prepared the perfect dessert to accompany. The final course features vanilla bean and blackberry spiced panna cotta with dried fruit and chocolate bark. Fruity wine and decadent dessert, what more could you want?

Stein & Dine pairs handcrafted brews with the perfect cuisine to match. Each dinner features a regional brewing company we have on tap. Learn the insights of brewing and expand your palate with this dinner.

Bourbon 101 & Bites provides an opportunity to taste hand-crafted bourbon from around the region. Featured distilleries are local or from the heart of Bourbon Country in Kentucky. Learn the basics of bourbon and enjoy paired cuisine from our culinary team.

Tequila Dinner – Go south of the border for this one. This is a brand new themed dinner for this year’s schedule. Enjoy the summer weather with a cool, refreshing margarita or tequila cocktail!
