A little spot of summer relaxation, right here in ParkersburgJune 27, 2017 7:30 am
Need a spot to sit back and relax? Visit us. Live music, craft brews and classy cuisine are ways you can take a break.
Summer months on the patio
Dusky summer evenings beg for al fresco dining. Fortunately, The Blennerhassett Hotel has just the thing: a patio and courtyard.
Relaxed yet refined, it’s just what you need for a quick retreat. Gaslight lanterns and cafe tables evoke Victorian elegance. So does the garden, which blooms with flowers, fountain grasses and aromatic herbs. Sometimes their spicy-sweet scent catches on a breeze.
Sit under an umbrella and take a deep breath. You’ve found that slice of summer.
Our Live Summer Entertainment make things even better, too. That’s when classic guitarists and jazz musicians play every Friday and Saturday from 7-10 p.m. Sometimes an eclectic group will perform, just for variety.
So come out and join us! We think you’ll agree that simple pleasures like these are the very essence of summer. Add a refreshing drink or entree while you’re at it. Now that’s a vacation!
Summer treats and eats
The patio is a little different from Spats, our indoor restaurant and lounge. It’s more spontaneous, a place for light pick-me-ups.
Start with a summery drink. Our crafted martinis and cocktails— like Island Dream and Georgia Peach— add a refreshing snap to warm evenings. Or savor an iced tea instead. No matter your taste, we have chilled escapes prepared just for you.
Now for the tasty part. We have light entrees that are just right for summer, like Chef Argoso’s artisan salads, soup, and half sandwiches. These are pretty special, too. Look forward to delicacies like smoked salmon sliders or pressed Italian-style hoagies with Genoa salami, smoked jam and pickled jalapenos. Delish!
Crave something heavier? We have whole sandwiches, burgers and wraps as well. Each order comes with fries or a specialty side dish, too.
What’s on tap
Now for the best part: craft brews from the patio. Part lounge, part “biergarten,” it’s one of the best places in Parkersburg to enjoy a pint. Food and Beverage Manager Steve Collins is excited about this summer’s selection, too.
“We’ve seen some top breweries in the United States finally weave their way to the mountain state with more on the way,” he enthuses. “For the state of West Virginia and The Blennerhassett Hotel, this changing season has welcomed a litany of new breweries from across the state and across the country.”
Ommegang from New York, Bell’s and Founder’s from Michigan, Dogfish Head of Delaware and New Belgium from Colorado are new Blennerhassett additions.
“We’ve also got some great ciders and beers that are brewing right here in the mountain state,” Collins adds. “Swilled Dog is a new West Virginia cidery that has already won some awards for their semi-dry and seasonal ciders.”
Try some from our rotating taps! Collins also stocks brews from North End Tavern and Parkersburg Brewery, which are within walking distance from the hotel.
“So whether you’re new to the beer scene or a beer aficionado wanting to try out some locally made brews or some world-renowned suds, we’ve got a little bit of everything on tap and bottle,” he promises. “With rotating taps that change almost weekly and a beer selection that changes with the seasons, we‘re sure you can find an old favorite or something new that you might enjoy.
