(Parkersburg, WV, Oct 16, 2022) An historic Parkersburg Hotel received recognition from Thrillist, a New York-based media company, having been named “West Virginia’s Most Haunted Hotel.”

The article cites alleged reportings of sightings of William Chancellor, the founder of The Hotel Blennerhassett, as it was known in 1889, as well as the once-mayor of Parkersburg. The article continues to mention strange happenings in two rooms of the hotel.

“This comes as we’re expanding our paranormal tourism efforts,” said Travis Stephens, Digital Marketing Manager at The Blennerhassett Hotel. “Not only do we have events all October long for both guests and locals, we’re also working on the first-ever Appalachian ParaCon in March,” said Stephens, referencing a paranormal convention to be held in 2023 at the hotel.

Spooktacular Blennerhassett Tours, storied hotel-wide tours, are available to the public on October 22nd, 28th and 29th. Spooktacular tours are $20 for adults and $12 for children 12 and younger, who must be accompanied by an adult.

In 2022, the hotel began to conduct Haunted Blennerhassett Tours on the third Friday of each month, consisting of a tour followed by a paranormal investigation with special equipment.

On Oct. 31, the hotel will cap the Halloween season with a unique two-part tour and hands-on investigation event, All Hallows Eve at the Blennerhassett, starting at 9 PM.

“We timed All Hallows Eve so attendees can hand out candy on Trick or Treat in Parkersburg, then head over to the Blennerhassett Hotel and Spa to continue their perfect Halloween night,” said Stephens.

“We couldn’t be more excited to be included on this incredible list of America’s most haunted places. This is great for the hotel and great for Parkersburg tourism,” said Stephens.
